About Beijing Government Scholarship 2024-25

The Beijing Government Scholarship (BGS) established by the Beijing Municipal Government. It helps international students studying or planning to study in Beijing by covering some or all of their tuition fees. The International Cooperation and Exchange Office of Beijing Municipal Commission of Education manages the scholarship. They handle setting up the program, reviewing applications, accepting students, and managing it every day.     • Applicants for undergraduate programs need to provide IELTS 6.0, TOEFL 75 or above, or proof of language proficiency at the corresponding level. Applicants with strong Chinese proficiency are preferred.
    • Applicants for graduate programs need to provide IELTS 6.5, TOEFL 80 or above, or provide proof of language proficiency at the appropriate level. Strong Chinese proficiency is an advantage;
      • Exceptions: Applicants from countries whose official language is English and want to apply for English-taught majors do not need to provide proof of English proficiency.
  • Chinese Taught Courses
    • Undergraduate programs require applicants to have a Chinese proficiency of 222 or above at HSK-4 level.
    • The postgraduate programs require applicants to have Chinese proficiency at HSK-5 level or above.

Required Documents for BGS

The applicants must fill in and submit the following documents truly, correctly and completely:

  • Application Form for Beijing Government Scholarship (Applicants shall obtain the form from the Higher Education Institutions or download the form from the website of the targeted HEIs)
  • Notarized highest diploma and transcripts.
  • Study plan (no less than 400 words) or research plan (no less than 800 words) in Chinese or English should be submitted for degree or research students.
  • The highest academic certificate and transcript, with an average score of more than 70% (non-Chinese or English materials need to provide certified Chinese/English translations)
  • Certificate of Language Proficiency
